In the year 2016, 67,898 national German patent applications, 14,024 utility model applications, 69,340 trademark applications and 54,588 design applications were filed in the German Patent and Trademark Office (source: DPMA).
Furthermore, 159,353 European patent applications (source: EPO), 116,512 European Union trademark applications and 90,708 European Union design applications were filed last year (source: EUIPO).
