In the year 2011, 59,607 national German patent applications, 16061 utility model applications, 64,052 trademark applications and 53,081 design applications were filed in the German Patent and Trademark Office (source: DPMA).
Furthermore, 142,842 European patent applications, 89,329 European Community trademark applications and 78,882 European Community design applications were filed last year (source: EPO and OHIM, respectively).
