In the year 2012, 61,311 national German patent applications, 15,491 utility model applications, 59,849 trademark applications and 53,862 design applications were filed in the German Patent and Trademark Office (source: DPMA).
Furthermore, 148,494 European patent applications, 91,933 European Community trademark applications and 83,115 European Community design applications were filed last year (source: EPO and OHIM, respectively).
